Flattened, plate-like and slow, holding to the underside of Galapagos ledges and easy to pass over.
To about 25 cm total length with a carapace of eight to thirteen. Flattened, with no whip antennae — the second antennae are broad flat plates instead.
There is no other slipper lobster in the region, so nothing to separate it from.
Ten to fifty metres, with most records around ten to eighteen, on rock and sandy patches within reef. It is nocturnal; the Cocos Island adult record was taken at twilight.
Listed as Data Deficient. It is taken incidentally in the spiny lobster fishery and is of local commercial importance, and interest in it has risen as spiny lobster stocks have fallen.
