A flat green-brown crab with hairy legs, wedged into crevices and out grazing algae after dark.
This entry is short because the sources are effectively empty. No maximum size, no depth range, no colour description and no confusion species could be found for it in any database or guide consulted.
What can be said at genus level, and is labelled as such: the clinging crabs are squat, broad-carapaced crabs that wedge into crevices and graze algae at night.
The genus placement is also unsettled, with the species carried under both Mithraculus and Mithrax. Note as well that “hairy clinging crab” is the standard name for a different Caribbean species, so the name on this page collides with one already in use.
