Translucent white with dark blue lines and an orange rim, one of the lined chromodorids.
A chromodorid to about 4 cm, the mantle translucent white to very pale blue and crossed lengthways by several dark blue to black lines, with a yellow to orange band around the margin. The rhinophores and the gill plume are orange, in some animals edged in white. It belongs to a group of blue-and-black lined slugs that share the same ground, and the useful characters are the translucency of the ground colour and the way the dark lines break into dashes rather than running unbroken from head to tail.
Separating it from Chromodoris willani and Chromodoris annae comes down to the gills and the margin. C. willani carries white speckling over the gills and rhinophores and has no orange margin at all; C. annae has an opaque cornflower ground with a broad orange skirt. All three feed on sponges and hold the sponge’s chemistry in the mantle margin.
Recorded from Indonesia and the Philippines, on sponge-covered rubble and rock from about 5 to 25 m.
